I have been fortunate enough to have several farm animal sanctuaries within driving distance of where I live in New York. I have visited the Catskill Animal Sanctuary, and the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary . The residents in these sanctuaries are rescues from factory farming hell holes. They would have been slaughtered if they were not rescued. Each animal has a story. When you visit a sanctuary, you get to see the animals in there own environment and not a cage that keeps them from doing what comes natural. You get to sit with the animals and actually interact with them. Have you ever seen animals in the zoo pacing back and forth like an robot??? That is NOT a natural thing for these animals to do!
If you follow the link below, it will take you to a list of sanctuaries around the world. So wherever you live, find a sanctuary and go visit it! I guarantee you will have fun, and maybe a new outlook on life.

Great idea, Michael!! Instead of spending a load of money on installations that are really not good for/to the animals, we could donate to a sanctuary.

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderfull testimony MICHAEL. I have been a non-meat-eater for many years, but I became vegan at about the same time as you. It was september 2009 when I saw those videos from PETA just like you, and it made me feel so bad, so guilty for all that sufferting that animals go through for human consumption, and I got really disturbed, and on that day I decide to become vegan! just like you, I have already influenced 2 people to become vegan, and I am so happy for that! I also keep telling people about compassion for animals and all that I can to bring awareness to people. Thank you so much for sharing your story and for all that you have been doing for animals :)
